Spine Injury Avoid When Lift Luggage

After the New Year holiday usually your luggage to two times heavier than when leaving. Be careful when lifting your suitcase because it can cause spinal injury.

Habit-laden suitcase weight lifting when putting luggage in aircraft cabins, trains and cars could actually caused serious injury to your spine. As quoted from MedicMagic, there are several ways according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons must be done to avoid such injuries.


1. Do not load too much stuff in one suitcase, preferably using a lot of bags rather than carrying a large bag with excessive loads.
2. Choose a bag or suitcase that has wheels.
3. Be careful when lifting luggage to put in place higher than your head.
4. Do not load too much stuff in the car, you should use a package delivery service to bring home gifts or souvenirs.
5. Lift your suitcase or bag with your knees bent and feet rather than lifting while bending waist or back.
6. Do not rotate the spine when lifting weights.
